Job Description

JOB TITLE: VC Aircraft Electrical Technician
LOCATION: San Antonio, TX
PAY RATE: $40/hour

Qualifying Questions:

Summary: 

  • Perform connector terminations on shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optic wiring.

  • Interpret routing instructions and handle wire harnesses properly.

  • Seal, wrap, bond, tie, and close wire harnesses and cables per standard processes.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to perform electrical modifications and repairs.

  • Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level modification and repair of electrical wiring.

  • Assemble, install, visually inspect, modify wire bundles and electrical assemblies; conduct operational and quality checks on aircraft.

  • Troubleshoot maintenance-level malfunctions in aircraft electrical and communications/navigation systems.

  • Follow standard work instructions, charts, blueprints, wire diagrams, and job layouts.

  • Operate all equipment safely and in accordance with procedures.

  • Coordinate, prepare, and move materials and tools as needed.

  • Operate riding-type electric powered elevating equipment to complete assignments.

  • Maintain required certifications, licenses, and permits.

  • Perform duties of lower-level Electrical classifications as necessary.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • 10+ years’ experience with electrical/electronic theory, avionics systems, and shop mathematics/practices.

  • 10+ years’ experience working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and SOPs.

  • 10+ years’ experience in component and wire installation including repair, modification, testing, and troubleshooting of new, experimental, or disturbed systems.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

  • Ability to work variable shifts, weekends, and overtime.

Physical and Safety Requirements:

  • Able to ascend/descend vertical ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 35 lbs; occasionally perform 2-person lifts over 50 lbs.

  • Exposure to noise and elevated work platforms.

  • Use personal protective equipment for face, eyes, ears, hands, and arms.

  • Pass visual acuity and color perception tests.

  • Comprehend and communicate effectively in English.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials safely.

  • Obtain and maintain required training certifications.

  • Frequent overhead reaching, walking, standing on flat/uneven surfaces, balancing on ladders, occasional climbing (3-12 ft), and other physical activities including crawling, bending, squatting, and operating foot controls.

  • Occasional contact with metals and frequent exposure to noise.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with avionics systems.

  • Experience in depot-level or modification maintenance.

  • Ability to operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and riding-type electric powered elevating equipment.

  • FAA Airframe and/or Power Plant certification.
