We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Job Details:

Summary: 

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer with a background in defense contracting, aerospace, or related technical fields. This role is responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation that meets industry standards and supports both internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, strong technical acumen, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and edit technical documents, including manuals, SOPs, installation guides, training materials, technical reports, and proposals.

  • Collaborate with SMEs, engineers, and project teams to gather and verify technical content.

  • Create and maintain templates and style guides for consistency and compliance with customer and industry requirements.

  • Research and understand technical systems and products to accurately convey functionality.

  • Manage document lifecycle, including version control, updates, and archiving.

  • Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and contract requirements (e.g., ITAR, DFARS, MIL-STD).

  • Incorporate feedback to refine documentation.

  • Utilize tools such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, Visio, and XML editors for deliverables.

  • Primarily office-based with occasional visits to manufacturing/testing facilities.

  • Occasional travel for client or project meetings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3–5 years’ technical writing experience, preferably in defense or aerospace.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and platforms such as RoboHelp or MadCap Flare.

  • Basic understanding of engineering/manufacturing concepts and ability to interpret technical drawings.

  • Experience with configuration management and version control systems.

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills, adaptable for diverse audiences.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proposal writing and government contract documentation experience.

  • Familiarity with military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-38784) and defense documentation processes preferred.

  • Knowledge of ITAR/EAR compliance.

  • Technical writing certification.
