Summary: 

  • Support the authoring, revision, and maintenance of C-17 flight manuals.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally and supports both domestic and international customers, including Foreign Military Sales (FMS).

  • Author, revise, and maintain C-17 flight manuals and supplements.

  • Collaborate with engineering, flight operations, and customers to ensure accuracy and clarity.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on C-17 operational procedures and technical publications.

  • Ensure compliance with military, program, and regulatory publication standards.

  • Lead and participate in quality reviews, configuration control, and publication updates.

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and ensure timely, contract-compliant delivery.

  • Support digital transformation initiatives, including eManuals and authoring tools.

  • Provide input on process improvements and new business development.

  • Direct technical data development to ensure on-schedule delivery and contract compliance.

  • Guide scheduling, reporting, and resolution of complex publication issues.

  • Advise management on technical data scope, resource planning, and contract negotiations.

  • Engage with customers on pricing and schedule impacts.

  • Coordinate configuration changes affecting publications.

  • Lead initiatives in process improvement and new business pursuits.

Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aviation, Aeronautical Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • 10+ years in aviation, including 5+ years working with flight manuals or technical publications.

  • Experience as a pilot or flight crew member on military or large transport aircraft.

  • Strong understanding of flight operations, aircraft systems, and regulatory standards (S1000D, MIL-STD, FAA, ICAO).

  • Proficient in XML/SGML, XPP, Arbortext, batch files, or similar authoring tools.

  • Excellent technical writing, editing, and attention to detail.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external customers.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with C-17 or other military transport aircraft flight manuals.

  • Familiarity with IETMs, EFBs, and digital publication tools.

  • Foreign Military Sales (FMS) support experience.

  • Project management experience (scheduling, resource planning, process improvement).

  • Knowledge of scripting, automation, and Lean/Agile/Six Sigma practices.

  • Pilot’s License preferred.
