JOB TITLE: Supplier Quality Engineer
LOCATION: Amarillo, TX
PAY RATE: $25/hour

Summary: 

  • Ensure proper flow-down of product requirements internally and to sub-tier suppliers through purchase orders, quality notes, and statements of work.

  • Conduct source inspections at critical manufacturing stages to verify proper fabrication and assembly.

  • Investigate supplier-related defects impacting production or assembly lines.

  • Implement inspection plans and containment strategies when quality issues arise.

  • Plan and conduct supplier audits and assessments covering systems, special processes, and product quality.

  • Document and report audit findings and assessment results.

  • Represent quality during review boards related to:

    • Supplier design changes

    • Process changes

    • Qualification testing

    • Procedure updates

  • Analyze supplier performance data and develop improvement plans to reduce nonconformance rates.

  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve supplier quality and delivery performance.

  • Evaluate supplier capability and capacity for current and future program work.

  • Drive supplier performance to meet or exceed established quality and delivery metrics.

  • Provide training and coaching to suppliers on quality systems, regulatory requirements, and company initiatives.

  • Analyze nonconformance trends to assess the effectiveness of corrective actions.

  • Support development and maintenance of supplier quality scorecards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business preferred, or 6+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education, Supplier Quality Engineering experience, and ASQ certifications.

  • Experience supporting composites and assembly manufacturing.

  • Prior Special Process auditing experience and knowledge of NADCAP certification.

  • Working knowledge of quality systems and standards including:

    • ISO 9001 / AS9100

    • AS9145 (APQP & PPAP)

    • AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI)

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

  • General knowledge of industry technical standards (e.g., ANSI, ASTM, CMMI).

  • Strong technical background with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Up to one week per month travel to supplier locations.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
