JOB TITLE: Structure & Payload Design Engineer 3
LOCATION: North Charleston, SC
PAY RATE: $73.75/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Summary: 

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.

  • Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs using 3D Computer Aided Design tools.

  • Performs, integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with supplier to optimize design and achieve program goals.

  • Develops new design and analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency.

  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs.

  • Provides engineering support and project leadership within a production system.

  • Engages directly with aerospace suppliers or airlines for design and production integration.

  • Validates and demonstrates compliance to regulatory requirements and works with regulators.

  • Applies Design for Manufacturing principles and knowledge of aircraft cargo compartment and handling system design, integration, and certification.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences.

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience.

  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.

  • Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria, and release processes.

  • Experience in program or project management including development and execution of schedule milestones, financial assessments, resource assessments, and risk or issues management.

  • Experience leading a cross-functional team.

  • Experience with BFE Monuments, Lighting, Lavatories, Galleys, Certification, Configuration, and Production Integration processes and tools.

  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing and aircraft cargo compartment and handling systems.

  • Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences.
