JOB TITLE: Sr. Stress Engineer

Summary: 

  • Analyze primary and secondary aircraft structures for compliance with FAA 14 CFR Part 23 & Part 25.

  • Perform stress analysis of metallic and composite structures using classical hand calculations and FEM with advanced meshing techniques.

  • Conduct loads development for static, dynamic, fatigue, and damage tolerance assessments.

  • Develop Fatigue & Damage Tolerance (F&DT) reports.

  • Perform additional analyses including thermal, aero-elastic flutter, dynamic response, non-linear analysis, pre/post-test analysis, structural optimization, and software programming.

  • Complete stress notes and develop macros using Excel, Mathcad, or similar software.

  • Document analyses in formal structural substantiation reports and airworthiness documents.

  • Contribute to FAA STC Project Specific Certification Plans (PSCP).

Requirements:

  • Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • 8–10 years in classical aircraft hand stress analysis methods and NASTRAN (FEMAP) finite element modeling.

  • 7–10 years working on primary and secondary structural modifications on aircraft.

  • Familiarity with MMPDS, Bruhn, Roark, aircraft fasteners, materials, sheet metal assemblies, machined fittings, composites, honeycomb, and solid laminate construction.

  • Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 23 & Part 25 structural regulations.

  • Strong technical skills in stress analysis, FEM, and solid modeling.

  • Understanding of engineering modeling techniques and principles.

  • Experience reviewing and interpreting engineering models, drawings, and manuals.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to evaluate, document, and report on designs based on structural trade studies.

  • Experience with sheet metal modeling techniques for aircraft structures.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in MS Office for report writing and analysis preparation.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineering and cross-functional teams.

  • Proficient in writing technical reports and presenting data clearly.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
