Summary:
Independently design, fabricate, and install upholstery and trim in aircraft interiors.
Support the Shop Lead by overseeing projects, guiding team members, and mentoring junior technicians.
Fabricate and install seat covers, curtains, and panel covers.
Interpret material specs and engineering drawings to meet design requirements.
Sew, fabricate, and install custom carpets and upholstery while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Use the Corridor system for tracking materials and work progress.
Assist in process improvements using Lean Six Sigma tools.
Take on Lead responsibilities when needed, delegating tasks and overseeing projects.
Conduct safety audits and maintain shop equipment.
Ensure compliance with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies.
Train and mentor junior technicians.
Required Skills:
High School Diploma or GED.
4 years of upholstery experience, including 2 years in aircraft upholstery, or 6 years in commercial upholstery.
Advanced knowledge of upholstery, sewing processes, and custom carpet installation.
Familiarity with inspection processes and industry specifications.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documents.
Basic computer literacy.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
Must be proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension).
