Job Description

JOB TITLE: Shipping/Receiving Clerk
LOCATION: Irvine, CA
PAY RATE: $26-29/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Summary: 

  • Receive incoming shipments, inspect materials for damage or discrepancies, and verify contents against packing slips and purchase orders.

  • Accurately record received items in the inventory management system.

  • Prepare and package outgoing shipments according to customer requirements, company procedures, and applicable ITAR standards.

  • Coordinate with carriers for pickups and deliveries; generate shipping labels and required documentation (e.g., bills of lading, export documents).

  • Maintain a clean and organized shipping/receiving area; follow all safety protocols and company procedures.

  • Conduct routine inventory counts and assist with cycle counts as needed.

  • Verify shipment information, including counts, weights, and measures, against invoices, orders, and other records.

  • Scan and archive documents according to company procedures, keeping records organized and audit-ready.

  • Schedule and coordinate pickups of all sizes of goods and prepare them for shipment.

  • Pack items for safe shipment in accordance with commercial standards and Mil-STD as required.

  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (MHE) safely and efficiently.

  • Collaborate with Production, Quality Control, and Procurement teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations; experience in a defense or aerospace environment is a strong plus.

  • Familiarity with shipping software (e.g., FedEx, UPS) and ERP or inventory management systems.

  • Understanding of export control regulations, including ITAR and EAR, preferred.

  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain one; proficient in using other MHE safely.

  • Must obtain and maintain Hazmat training and certification, including shipping special commodities such as lithium batteries and hazardous materials.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • U.S. Citizenship required due to defense-related work and export control regulations.

  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.

  • The successful candidate must perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet software; experience with Navision is a plus.
