Project Engineer I - Aircraft Interiors - 1st Shift

FAA Regulated?: No

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience with aircraft interiors and complex commodities and suppliers across the design life cycle from initial concept into sustainment.
  2. Experience developing and maintaining MS Project schedules with resource loading.
  3. Candidates will be evaluated based on project experience and demonstrated skills in leading projects and communicating effectively.
  4. Experience with configuration management, preferred experience with Seats and/or Electrical Systems

Education and Experience Requirements

 
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of appropriate education and experience 10 years engineering experience with a Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related advanced degrees limited to 2 years for Masters and 4 years for PhD in fields applicable to this job. 2 years project management experience.
 
Position Purpose:

Creates and manages product plans for major aircraft programs that support the program milestones leading to certification and entry into service. In a supervisory capacity, plans, develops, coordinates and directs a cross-functional team of engineering staff.

Job Description

  1. Fully responsible for planning and conducting important segments of engineering projects with extensive and diversified engineering requirements. Has input for facilities, personnel, and funds required. to carry out project.
  2. Establishes project work scope, task descriptions, budget estimates and manpower requirements including master scheduling that meets corporate objectives and commitments.
  3. Determines practicality of the overall project in regard to function suitability, availability of manpower, equipment and materials, resources, cost, and producibility.
  4. Anticipates problems with assigned projects (technical, budget, schedule) and takes appropriate action to prevent their occurrence.
  5. Assigns tasks to functional personnel and provides the necessary project supervision to meet schedules and fulfill requirements.
  6. Keeps management informed of project accomplishments and major problem areas as well as budget and schedule status.
  7. Provides project management between engineering sections and all related activities including program management, other departments, vendors, consultants, and customers.
  8. Maintains a current knowledge of technical developments.
  9. Approves project related engineering data to assure compliance with corporate policies and FAA/military requirements as required.
  10. Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements.

  3. Has accountability for technical decisions pertaining to the configuration of the aircraft for the project. This includes as a minimum, design, analysis, supplier integration, development, testing, and certification.
  4. Must interface with other PEs and engineering management to ensure systems are compatible and designed with in common goals.
  5. Must provide leadership to direct staff to ensure proper methodology and decision making criteria are being utilized.
  6. Must express judgment and foresight to recognize when decisions should be elevated to senior management.
  7. Must be able to clearly and concisely present technical and team status to program and senior management leadership.
  8. Must be able to organize and facilitate technical supplier coordination meetings.
  9. Must be able to prepare status reports that accurately reflect status of project.
  10. Has budgetary responsibility for cross-functional team.
  11. Must prepare budget status report that can be submitted and presented in a clear manner to program and functional management.
