Job Description

JOB TITLE: Military Vehicle Mechanic - 1st Shift 
LOCATION: Huntsville, AL
PAY RATE: $47.50/hour

Job Details:

  • Contract Length: 12 months (with potential extension)

Qualifying Questions:

Summary: 

  • Perform tasks in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical fields

  • Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, diagnose, and maintain equipment, components, devices, and systems

  • Work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions

  • Operate related equipment, conduct tests, and record data in prescribed formats

  • Perform calibration and alignment checks; make adjustments and replacements as needed

  • Prepare prescribed compounds and solutions

  • Support the Redstone Arsenal STORM Project Office

  • Maintain and troubleshoot M270A1 and HIMARS Launchers

  • Test ATACMS, GMLRS, HELLFIRE, and Javelin missiles

  • Write final reports and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Note: This role excludes technicians working strictly in production or quality assurance

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Familiarity with gasoline and diesel engines

  • Strong vehicle troubleshooting skills

  • Knowledge of Redstone Arsenal, AL operations

  • Experience working with engines and diesel engines

  • Experience working on military vehicles such as Bradley, HIMARS, MLRS, HUMVEE, and HEMTT

  • Diesel mechanic experience with bulldozers and/or large diesel engines

  • Preferred experience with both gasoline and diesel engines

  • Safety shoes are required for this position

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
