Job Description

JOB TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer - DEFENSE
LOCATION: Palmdale, CA
PAY RATE: $80-95/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Job Details:

  • Job Type: Contract (12 months with potential for extension)

  • Shift: Weekend Shift – Friday to Monday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM (potential for overtime)

  • Clearance: Active Secret Clearance with an investigation within the last 5 years — required to apply

Summary: 

  • Performs in a collaborative environment to develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, fabrication, and material handling.

  • Drives the adoption of new technologies and processes, including automation, robotics, and computer-aided manufacturing software, to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.

  • Creates and analyzes 3D-based model data to optimize manufacturing processes and develop accurate digital work instructions.

  • Leverages expertise in materials and automated processes to define operational procedures and build sequences that ensure operational excellence.

  • Evaluates equipment, tools, and IoT devices for performance and efficiency, identifying and implementing corrective actions where needed.

  • Utilizes factory data and statistical process control (SPC) methods to develop and integrate data analytics solutions for continuous improvement.

  • Provides engineering input to product design to optimize manufacturing concepts, specifications, and equipment utilization.

Requirements:

  • Active Secret Clearance with an investigation within the last 5 years (required to apply)

  • Minimum of 4 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience (not a planner role)

  • CATIA V5 proficiency

  • Experience with structural assembly or sub-systems

  • Aviation or aerospace industry experience

  • Background in first-time build or new product development projects

  • Experience working cross-functionally with industrial engineering, planning, scheduling, quality assurance, and/or production teams

  • Hands-on experience with fabrication, assembly, machining, and electrical processes in areas such as composites, metallics, bonded assemblies, and installations

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and process improvement initiatives

  • Experience with MRP systems, SAP, or other Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
