Job Description

JOB TITLE: Machining Technician

LOCATION: Greensboro, NC

PAY RATE: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour

Summary: 

  • Responsible for producing precision parts by designing process workflows, creating NC programs, selecting tools, setting up equipment, and operating CNC and manual machines.

  • Develop process workflows and NC programs for multi-axis CNC machines (lathes, mills, waterjets).

  • Select appropriate cutting tools for optimal machining performance.

  • Design and fabricate workholding fixtures for production needs.

  • Operate CNC and manual machines, including mills and lathes, to produce precision parts.

  • Inspect machined parts using precision metrology equipment and prepare quality reports.

  • Optimize programs, tooling, and machine settings for efficiency and accuracy.

  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and propose process improvements.

Required Skills:

  • High School diploma or GED required; formal machining training or apprenticeship preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of machining experience, preferably in aerospace. Proficiency with CNC multi-axis lathes and 3-5 axis mills (Hurco).

  • Skilled in designing fixtures/tools for prototype parts.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (Gibbscam preferred).

  • Basic knowledge of CATIA and 3D printing (FDM), including Insight and GrabCAD Print software.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with OMAX waterjet systems.

  • Experience with model-based machining processes.

  • Knowledge of FAA certification processes and AS9100 compliance standards.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced R&D environment while maintaining a safe, organized workspace.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
