Summary: 

  • Perform complex trade studies, modeling, simulation, and other analyses to predict component, interconnect, and system performance, optimizing designs for E3 (Electromagnetic Environmental Effects) performance.

  • Work under minimal direction to ensure Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) of electronics, wiring, and structural systems.

  • Interface with manufacturing to address complex E3 aspects of designs, coordinate with suppliers to ensure system-level compatibility, and report progress and issues to program management and customers.

  • Support project management by developing work statements, budgets, schedules, and conducting required reviews.

  • Develop and implement test automation for aircraft modifications.

  • Apply EMI engineering expertise to document and resolve complex problems.

  • Perform analyses, modeling, and simulations to optimize component and system performance.

  • Apply conversion, correction, and antenna factors to EMI/EMC analyses and tests.

  • Collaborate on cross-functional teams and communicate effectively during internal and external reviews.

  • Process engineering data into clear tables and graphs for inclusion in reports.

Requirements:

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship

  • Bachelor’s degree and 9 or more years of related experience, or Master’s degree with 7 or more years of experience, or Ph.D. with 4 or more years of experience.

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry from an accredited institution.

  • Familiarity with electromagnetic concepts such as RF isolation, shielding, grounding, and filtering.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as required.

  • 7 or more years of related work experience (Expert Level).

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the defense or aerospace industry.

  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-461/464 and/or DO-160 EMI/EMC standards.

  • Experience with Aerospace Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3).

  • Experience with EMI qualification testing for aircraft LRUs, including reviewing procedures and test reports.

  • Familiarity with aircraft-level E3 requirements and test methods in MIL-STD-464.

  • Knowledge of electrical bonding best practices for E3 compliance.

  • Background in RF systems and/or computational E3 analytical software tools.
