Job Description

JOB TITLE: Designer III
LOCATION: Gainesville, TX
PAY RATE: $45.00-49.00/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Job Details:

  • Job Type: Contract (6 months with potential for extension)

Qualifying Questions:

Summary: 

  • Coordinates design of seats and seat components between customers and vendors.

  • Reviews customer requirements and specifications and incorporates them into product design.

  • Prepares layouts of overall design tasks including structural and articulation systems.

  • Defines design standards to maintain commonality with existing product line.

  • Prepares advanced bill of materials and long-lead item lists for seat programs.

  • Reviews design packages to assure conformance to latest specifications and regulations.

  • Prepares drawings for release using CATIA V5 or Pro/Engineer.

  • Applies knowledge of materials, production processes, and mechanical knowledge of parts and stress conditions.

  • Assumes liaison duties when product reaches manufacturing stages.

  • Functions as part of a design team and provides mentorship to less experienced engineers.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering, or a related engineering degree (minimum 12 years equivalent related engineering experience considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree).

  • Master's degree in related engineering field also acceptable.

  • 5 years of related design experience with Bachelor's degree.

  • 4 years of related design experience with Master's degree.

  • Excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 (or higher) and/or Pro/Engineer.

  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft seat products.

  • Good knowledge of materials, production processes, and mechanical knowledge of parts and stress conditions.

  • Ability to function as part of a design team and work independently with little supervision.

  • Preferred: APQP, D&PFMEA, Control Plan experience.
