Summary: 

• Responsible for designing aircraft structural and system modifications using 3D CAD software.

• Responsibilities include platform modification layouts, preliminary sizing, load path development, structural calculations, and the design and optimization of aircraft structures, systems, and components, including composites.

• This role may also involve directing, guiding, and reviewing the work of other design engineers.

• Create engineering layouts, models, and drawings for significant aircraft structural and systems modifications using 3D Catia CAD software.

• Provide leadership to a team of designers/draftsmen to complete engineering drawing packages and drive design solutions from concept through implementation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.

• 5–10 years’ experience with Catia V5 for aerospace/aircraft structural modifications and/or new design. 

• Ability to quickly understand and apply new concepts in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

• Broad experience with typical aircraft materials (MMPDS), hardware (MS, NAS, AN bolts, rivets, screws, nuts, bushings), aluminum and steel sheet metal, fiberglass, honeycomb panels, machined parts, and welding.

• Strong understanding of airframe structures, systems, manufacturing, and assembly procedures.

• Excellent attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient in MS Office Suite for report writing and analysis preparation.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
