JOB TITLE: Avionics Repair & Test Technician - DEFENSE
LOCATION: Killeen, TX
PAY RATE: $32.26/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Qualifying Questions:

  • Are you a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance?

Summary: 

  • Perform repair, rework, modification, and refurbishment of electro-mechanical systems and components

  • Conduct fault isolation, troubleshooting, and acceptance testing on mechanical, electrical, structural, and hydraulic systems

  • Operate test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, network analyzers, waveform generators)

  • Set up and operate conventional machining equipment (milling machines, drill press) for component repair

  • Use precision measuring tools to verify tolerances and compliance

  • Work from engineering drawings, schematics, and technical procedures (RCPs, FABs, CIPs)

  • Document maintenance activities in automated systems

  • Provide technical feedback to improve system reliability and performance

  • Handle hazardous materials and chemicals using proper PPE

  • Support basic material handling and supply tasks, including use of hoists

Requirements:

  • Ability to Obtain Clearance - Not Required to Start. 

  • Associate degree in a related field or 5–8 years of relevant experience

  • 1–2 years of soldering experience (J-STD-001 preferred)

  • Experience with troubleshooting and fault isolation using test equipment

  • Experience operating general-purpose and automated test equipment

  • Familiarity with industrial standards and military specifications

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs

  • Ability to work with hazardous materials and chemicals

  • Ability to safety wire assemblies and connectors

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Must be a U.S. citizen to comply with security clearance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solder certifications: J-STD-001, IPC-7711/IPC-7721

  • Experience with electro-mechanical systems in aerospace or defense environments
