Job Description

JOB TITLE:  Aircraft Structural Mechanic I - 2nd Shift
LOCATION: Tulsa, OK
PAY RATE: $21.21/hour

Qualifying Questions:

Summary: 

  • Assemble and fit detail parts and structures; perform drilling and riveting operations

  • Ensure all work meets FAA requirements, customer specifications, and quality standards

  • Rivet structural assemblies using all necessary tools (e.g., riveting guns, pneumatic drills, countersinks, files, reamers)

  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation sheets

  • Verify completed assemblies are defect-free prior to final inspection

  • Accurately log work in resource planning systems (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, PCOs)

  • Align and assemble parts using jigs, fixtures, clamps, and other tools

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and support 5S and safety initiatives

  • Work under moderate supervision and support Lean manufacturing activities

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts (e.g., YIAW, Kaizen events)

  • Maintain proper care of tools and equipment

  • Follow all safety procedures and shop policies

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Minimum 1 year of structural assembly experience

  • Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred

  • One year of experience credit may be given to graduates of the Savannah Tech Aircraft Structures Technical Certificate Program

  • Basic knowledge of aircraft structures, sheet metal work, and fabrication techniques

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use a 6" scale

  • Basic computer and shop math skills

  • Ability to comprehend technical documents and instructions

  • Strong attention to detail and a professional, hands-on work ethic

  • Must demonstrate good housekeeping and safety practices

  • Ability to work with composite resins and materials

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to climb ladders, stands, and stairs, and work in confined or restricted areas

  • Must be able to work any shift

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
