JOB TITLE: Software Engineer – Developer 3
LOCATION: Kent, WA
PAY RATE: $78.50/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Summary: 

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software across the full lifecycle in compliance with industry, customer, safety, and regulatory standards

  • Review, analyze, and translate customer requirements into software designs

  • Develop, enhance, and optimize software products for system integration

  • Develop and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and detailed designs

  • Debug and resolve issues to ensure reliability, efficiency, and performance

  • Troubleshoot technical issues, respond to user inquiries, and analyze user feedback

  • Implement current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulatory updates

  • Develop, monitor, and improve software processes, tools, and performance metrics aligned with organizational goals

  • Execute and document software research and development activities

  • Provide guidance on software domains, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations

  • Perform software project management and supplier coordination activities

  • Track and evaluate team and supplier performance to ensure compliance with project plans and industry standards

Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance (not required at time of hire).

  • Typically acquired through advanced technical education (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry and 5+ years of related work experience.

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience (e.g., Master’s degree + 3 years, PhD) will be considered.

  • In the United States, ABET accreditation is preferred but not required.

  • 5+ years of professional experience across the software development lifecycle, including design, development, integration, verification, troubleshooting, process/tool deployment, and supplier/project coordination

  • Experience in Agile software development environments and workflow tools (e.g., VS Code, GitLab)

  • Experience developing embedded real-time software with Ada (required) and/or C, C++, Java, Python, or Rust

  • Experience working with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)

  • Strong understanding of hardware/software integration and system safety principles

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with diverse stakeholders

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

  • Experience leading complex avionics or control system software programs (commercial or military)

  • Experience deriving and allocating requirements with full lifecycle traceability

  • Strong knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies

  • Experience with implementation, validation, and verification processes for safety-critical systems

  • Understanding of certification standards and aircraft/product compliance systems

  • Experience leading software development in compliance with internal and industry standards

  • Experience defining and executing verification and validation plans

  • Familiarity with aerospace standards such as DO-178C, DO-331, MIL-HDBK-516C, and MIL-STD-882

  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading complex system implementation efforts
