JOB TITLE: C17 Aircraft Structures Fabrication - Free Housing Support
LOCATION: San Antonio, TX
PAY RATE: $40.17/hour

Qualifying Questions:

Summary: 

  • Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation in critical support and fracture-critical areas

  • Locate blind holes for installing new structural items on existing structures

  • Apply sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation of structure in accordance with standard repair processes

  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to perform structural work

  • Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level structural modification and repair

  • Perform aircraft mechanical troubleshooting and component replacement

  • Conduct aircraft sheet metal and structural repair/modification

  • Operate and understand specialized tools: torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes, shears, etc.

  • Access aircraft data through computer systems; initiate online parts and discrepancy requests

  • Maintain required certifications, licenses, and permits

  • Ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads up to 35 lbs

  • Ensure safe working conditions using Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag Out systems

  • Support cross-functional team members to meet cost and schedule targets

  • Adhere to SA site Tool Control and FOD (Foreign Object Debris) procedures

  • Must pass an assessment at the end of training

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 4+ years of experience with non-porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel)

  • 4+ years interpreting schematics, specs, assembly drawings, and SOPs

  • 4+ years using structure hand tools (e.g., drills, pancake adapters, countersink cages, hole finders, rivet guns)

  • 4+ years of heavy aircraft structure work: drilling, countersinking, fastening parts (e.g., doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks)

  • Willingness to work variable shifts, including scheduled/unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with heavy maintenance on C-17 aircraft or depot-level work

  • Experience working with titanium structures

  • Ability to operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and riding-type powered elevating equipment
