JOB TITLE: Avionics Telemetry Engineer - Onsite
LOCATION: Mojave, CA
SALARY: $101,000-158,000/year

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Summary: 

  • Support development, design, testing, and operation of instrumentation, network, and telemetry systems for flight missions

  • Prepare and maintain data system assets for flight test operations

  • Assist in sensor selection and aircraft harness design for instrumentation and data systems

  • Configure and manage onboard instrumentation systems for real-time monitoring and post-flight analysis

  • Support development and maintenance of software tools (configuration, simulation, deployment, analysis)

  • Define and manage subsystem requirements for new configurations

  • Conduct integration and system testing, including power checks, calibration, and equipment checkout

  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians across disciplines

  • Prepare and present materials for design reviews, flight readiness reviews, and post-flight analysis

Requirements:

 

  •  

    Level I: Bachelor’s degree + 0–2 years experience 

  • Level II: Bachelor’s degree + 2–5 years experience 

  • Senior: Bachelor’s degree + 5–10 years experience 

  • Experience in telemetry, instrumentation, or network engineering in a test or regulated environment

  • Working knowledge of Ethernet networking (TCP, UDP, multicast)

  • Experience integrating data acquisition systems (analog, discrete, digital protocols such as ARINC 429)

  • Familiarity with RF systems (transmitters, receivers, encoders/decoders)

  • Experience with data acquisition systems and dataloggers

  • Experience writing system requirements

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (C/C++, C#, or Python)

  • Experience with source control (Git)

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bamboo)

  • Proficiency with MS Office tools

  • Travel required up to 10%

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Flight test instrumentation experience

  • Aircraft harness design experience

  • Aircraft or launch vehicle development experience

  • RF telemetry system configuration and end-to-end testing

  • Knowledge of telemetry standards (IRIG 106 Ch 4, 7, 10)

  • Hands-on flight test or piloting experience

  • Experience with requirements tools (JAMA, DOORS)

  • Mission control room experience

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
