Job Description

JOB TITLE: Avionics Elec Technician

LOCATION: Mesa, AZ

PAY RATE: $32.18 per hour

Summary: 

 

  • Provide technical expertise in testing, troubleshooting, and repairing aircraft systems to minimize schedule impact.

  • Implement process changes to reduce costs and meet deadlines without compromising safety or quality.

  • May act as Senior Avionics/Electrical Technician to ensure safety and quality standards are maintained while adhering to work schedules.

  • Perform operational testing and troubleshooting of avionics and aircraft systems.

  • Install and functionally test electrical/avionics components per engineering specifications, ensuring defect-free systems.

  • Ensure quality and efficiency in installations; troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning systems.

  • Repair or replace defective components and wiring using acceptable techniques (e.g., splicing, soldering).

  • Comply with engineering changes and modifications as needed.

  • Set up and operate test equipment; conduct functional and operational tests.

  • Properly document all work performed for inspection.

  • Test and maintain electronic systems and components.

  • Adhere to the company’s FOD, tool control, 5-S, and safety programs.

  • Adapt to sudden schedule changes.

  • May participate in aircraft certification and final phase testing, including flight tests.

Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 4 years of experience in avionics/electrical or 2 years of accredited aviation electronics schooling plus 2 years of related experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders, work in confined areas, and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Desired Skills:

  • A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred.

  • FCC and NCATT certifications preferred.

  • Preferred proficiency in troubleshooting other aircraft systems (hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls).
