Job Description

JOB TITLE: Aircraft Structural Mechanic II
LOCATION: 
Savannah, GA
PAY RATE: $25.65/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Qualifying Questions:

Summary: 

  • Safely assemble and fit detail parts and structures, including sheetmetal layout, fabrication, and installation

  • Perform drilling, riveting, and fastener removal using appropriate tools (portable riveting guns, pneumatic tools, files, reamers, etc.)

  • Read work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations

  • Check work for defects prior to final inspection

  • Maintain and use logs and records (MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs)

  • Align and assemble parts using jigs, fixtures, clamps, and fasteners; shape and form complex configurations per specifications

  • Perform repairs and rework per DMTs, MRRs, and PCOs

  • Maintain a clean, safe workspace; follow 5S program and use personal protective equipment

  • Properly collect and dispose of waste fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids, de-icing fluids, and solvent rags

  • Ensure accurate daily job charging to aircraft

  • Exchange job information and coordinate work between shifts

  • Assist with shop equipment maintenance and associated JSAs

  • Support Lean activities and process improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 2 years related structural assembly experience

  • Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

  • Basic computer and shop math skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders

  • Hands-on aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to meet demanding schedules

  • Work with composite resins and materials

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/stands/stairs, and work in small/restricted spaces

  • Must be able to work any shift

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
