Job Description

JOB TITLE: Aircraft Upholstery Technician II
LOCATION: Savannah, GA
PAY RATE: $25.65/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Summary: 

  • Fabricate and install flat panels and curtains per design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications; sew simple covers as needed.

  • Work with fabric, vinyl, leather hides, composites, and other materials using adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, hand tools, and power tools.

  • Cut and surge carpets; cover bulkheads; cover/install panels; fabricate metal parts; fit panels and windows; install cabin headliners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, and windows.

  • Use the material tracking system to create parts demands, track squawks, and sign off work.

  • Collaborate with leads and higher-skilled technicians to implement process improvements that enhance safety, reduce cost, shorten cycle time, and save man-hours using Lean Manufacturing techniques.

  • Use the Corridor material tracking system for parts demands, squawk tracking, and work sign-off.

  • Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; use personal protective equipment as required.

  • Address unsafe conditions promptly to protect others from risk.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 2 years of experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers, and/or various hand tools used in upholstery and carpet trades.

  • Aerospace industry experience preferred.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.

  • Proficient in using measuring tools and performing basic math.

  • Computer literacy required.

  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 lbs, and work any shift.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
