Job Description

JOB TITLE: Aircraft Upholstery Technician I 
LOCATION: Savannah, GA
PAY RATE: $23.31/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Summary: 

  • Fabricate, cover, and install flat panels and curtains using design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications

  • Sew simple covers per engineering requirements

  • Work with fabric, vinyl, leather hides, composites, and other materials using adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, hand tools, and various power tools

  • Cut and serge carpets; cover bulkheads; cover and install panels

  • May fabricate metal parts and fit panels, windows, cabin headliners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, and windows

  • Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off work

  • Support process improvement initiatives with leads and senior technicians to improve safety, reduce cost, and minimize cycle time and labor hours (Lean Manufacturing)

  • Use Corridor to create parts demands, track squawks, and sign off work

  • Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; use required PPE

  • Address unsafe conditions promptly

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 2 years of experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers, and/or various hand tools used in upholstery and carpet trades

  • Aerospace industry experience preferred

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation

  • Ability to use measuring tools and perform basic math

  • Computer literate

  • Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small/restricted areas, lift up to 40 lbs, and work any shift

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
