JOB TITLE: Aircraft Structures Sheet Metal Mechanic
LOCATION: Wichita, KS
PAY RATE: $55/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Qualifying Questions:

Summary: 

  • Assemble and install structural/system components using drawings, work instructions, and technical documentation

  • Interpret prints, charts, sketches, and electronic/verbal instructions to determine work scope

  • Use shop math, precision measuring tools, and test instruments to complete assignments and validate assemblies

  • Utilize tooling to assemble components into sub-assemblies or completed units

  • Verify work meets engineering and process specifications; identify and document discrepancies

  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly certified and maintained

  • Perform routine minor machine maintenance (e.g., filters, lubrication, coolant levels)

  • Move products within the work area and complete required production transactions

  • Meet production schedules and support continuous workflow

  • Train and assist team members; support cross-training and SIA qualification

  • Set up and operate conventional and/or CNC fastening equipment (less than 3-axis), including drivematic processes

  • Perform at least one specialty area:

    • Assembly/Installation of Structures

    • Sealing

    • Sub-Assembly

Requirements:

  • Must have Multi-Layer Layup and Integration Fuselage experience

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents

  • Experience with structural assembly, drilling, fastening, and sealing techniques

  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and fastening equipment

  • Strong understanding of aircraft structures and materials

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or aerospace environment

  • Ability to perform precise measurements and basic shop math

  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship

  • Ability to work in confined spaces and on aircraft structures

  • Ability to bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding environments

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to work any shift, including overtime as needed

  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
