Job Description

JOB TITLE: Aircraft Structural Mechanic II 
LOCATION: Savannah, GA
PAY RATE: $25.65/hour

Summary: 

 

  • Perform structural assembly operations following established procedures to meet design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.

  • Safely assemble and fit detail parts and structures, including drilling, riveting, and sheet metal fabrication.

  • Perform layout, fabrication, and installation of parts and equipment on aircraft.

  • Use tools such as riveting guns, pneumatic drills, countersinks, and files; ensure fastener removal without damaging structures.

  • Interpret work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operational sheets; handle adhesives, sealants, and solvents per procedures.

  • Check and ensure all assemblies meet defect-free standards before inspection.

  • Align and assemble parts using jigs, fixtures, clamps, and fasteners.

  • Shape and form complex configurations to blueprint specifications.

  • Make repairs per DMTs, MRRs, or PCOs; perform rework to meet conformity standards.

  • Maintain logs and records (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs).

  • Support the 5S Program, maintain a clean work area, and comply with safety regulations.

  • Collect and dispose of waste materials properly.

  • Ensure accurate daily job charging and communicate effectively across shifts.

  • Assist in equipment maintenance and support Lean initiatives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • 2 years of related structural assembly experience.

  • Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Basic computer skills and shop math proficiency.

  • Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Capability to work with composite resins and materials.

  • Able to work any shift, climb ladders/stairs, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
