JOB TITLE: Aircraft Structural Mechanic I
LOCATION: Savannah, GA
PAY RATE: $21.21/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Summary: 

  • Assemble and fit detail parts and structures; perform drilling and riveting operations

  • Rivet structural assemblies, including sheetmetal, using portable riveting guns, pneumatic tools, countersinks, reamers, files, rivets, and rivet shavers

  • Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine rivet placement, type, size, and sequence

  • Inspect work to ensure defect-free assemblies prior to final inspection

  • Maintain logs and records (MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs) and enter daily labor into resource planning system

  • Align and assemble parts using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and support the company 5S program

  • Work under moderate supervision and support Lean initiatives

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities (YIAW, Kaizen events)

  • Maintain and care for shop equipment and tools

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • 1 year of structural assembly experience (experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred)

  • Graduates of Savannah Tech Aircraft Structures Technical Certificate Program may receive 1 year experience credit

  • Basic knowledge of aircraft structures, sheetmetal, and fabrication processes

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including 6" scale

  • Basic computer skills and shop math

  • Manufacturing/production shop environment

  • May involve working with composites, sheetmetal, and other aircraft materials

  • Shift flexibility required

  • Hands-on craft skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively with others and meet production schedules

  • Demonstrated good housekeeping and safety practices

  • Ability to work with composite resins and materials

  • Physical requirements: lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/stands/stairs, and work in small/restricted spaces

  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
