JOB TITLE: Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic
LOCATION: Tyndall AFB, FL
PAY RATE: $35.69/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Qualifying Questions:

Summary: 

  • Reads and interprets aircraft engineering drawings, technical manuals, structure repair manuals, understanding symbols, flags, and general notes.

  • Identifies aircraft locations by station, butt-line, and waterline as shown on engineering documentation and technical orders.

  • Works with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and standard scales.

  • Utilizes tools including drills, angle motors, shears, drill press, and pneumatic riveter.

  • Fabricates detail parts such as shims, splices, gussets, angles, brackets, doublers, stiffeners, and patches.

  • Bonds aircraft parts, assemblies, and materials on complete and incomplete aircraft where methods and operational sequences are not established.

  • Sets up and operates various types of material testers and mixers for bonding operations.

  • Performs assembly operations including trimming, filing, drilling, riveting, reforming, and fitting of parts and details.

  • Removes burrs and other surface imperfections as required and fabricates shims, brackets, and plates.

  • Records data and procedural information for future use and improvises shop aids to facilitate fabrication, application, or assembly operations.

Requirements:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance required to start.

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft engineering drawings, technical manuals, and structure repair manuals.

  • Experience fabricating detail parts including shims, splices, gussets, angles, brackets, doublers, stiffeners, and patches.

  • Experience with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and standard scales.

  • Experience using drills, angle motors, shears, drill press, and pneumatic riveter.

  • Experience bonding aircraft parts, assemblies, and materials.

  • Experience with assembly operations including trimming, filing, drilling, riveting, reforming, and fitting.

  • Experience setting up and operating material testers and mixers.

  • Ability to utilize full face respirator, Tyvek suits, and gloves for LO restore and modification work.

  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner maintaining a clean, FOD-free work area.
