JOB TITLE: Aircraft Mechanic II - VC Heavy Structures - Free Housing Support 
LOCATION: San Antonio, TX
PAY RATE: $45-50/hour

Job Details:

  • Duration – 12 months with possible extension
  • 100+ openings available
  • PAY RATE: $45-50/hour
  • Max Per Diem up to $1,477 weekly which is the equivalent to nearly $37/hr

Summary: 

  • Seeking experienced Structures Mechanics to support the VC-25B Program in San Antonio, TX.

  • Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical aircraft structures.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, and retrofit requirements for structural modifications.

  • Conduct sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structures per repair processes.

  • Work with test equipment, torque wrenches, micrometers, and sheet metal tools for depot-level modifications.

  • Troubleshoot and repair airframe components, including flight controls, hydraulics, fuel systems, and pneumatics.

  • Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate parts and discrepancy requests.

  • Operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and electric-powered equipment as needed.

  • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits for assigned work.

  • Must be able to work various shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.

Requirements:

  • MUST BE A US CITIZEN

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • 4+ years of on-aircraft heavy structures experience, with expertise in close tolerance drilling, structural repairs, and modifications.

  • Ability to obtain customer approval for aircraft access is required.

  • Experience working with non-porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel).

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, specifications, and assembly drawings.

  • Hands-on experience with structures hand tools (drills, pancake adapters, rivet guns, etc.).

  • Experience installing doublers, stringers, seat tracks, and other structural components.

  • Strong computer skills, including aircraft-related systems and office software.

  • Must meet customer access requirements (dual citizenship or prior citizenship of another country may preclude approval).

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, lift 35 lbs, and work on elevated platforms.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 35 pounds.

  • Exposure to noise while working on elevated platforms.

  • Use personal protective gear (face, eyes, ears, hands, and arms) as required.

  • Pass visual acuity and color perception tests.

  • Read, write, and comprehend the English language.

  • Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous materials safely.

  • Obtain and maintain required training certifications to support job responsibilities.

  • Occasional finger manipulation (1 to 3 hours).

  • Ability to perform a two-person lift for weights exceeding 50 pounds.

  • Frequent overhead reaching (3 to 6 hours).

  • Frequent walking on flat surfaces.

  • Frequent standing on flat or uneven surfaces.

  • Frequent balancing on ladders, steps, or uneven surfaces.

  • Occasional climbing on 3-12 ft ladders or stands.

  • Ability to rotate head/neck, sit, crawl, squat, bend/stoop, lie down, and operate foot controls for extended periods.

  • Occasional contact with metals.

  • Frequent exposure to noise.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with VIP or executive fleet aircraft interiors.

  • Depot-level or heavy structures maintenance background.

  • FAA Airframe and/or Power Plant certification (preferred).
