JOB TITLE: Aircraft General Mechanic - Free Housing Support
LOCATION: San Antonio, TX
PAY RATE: $43.05/hour

Summary: 

  • Maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures and components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions using airframe and power plant systems and restore operational condition.

  • Read and interpret technical documentation, blueprints, manufacturer manuals, engineering drawings, technical orders, and retrofit requirements.

  • Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures and fracture-critical areas.

  • Locate blind holes and install new structural items to existing structures.

  • Perform sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving of structures per standard repair processes.

  • Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level modification and repair of structural parts.

  • Assist team members (General Mechanics, Avionics, Electrics) to meet cost and schedule targets.

  • Follow safety procedures including Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems.

  • Ascend/descend vertical ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 35–50 lbs, and operate personal protective equipment.

  • Maintain certifications, licenses, and training required for assignment responsibilities.

  • Ensure compliance with export control requirements (must be a U.S. Person per 22 C.F.R. §120.15).

  • Participate in assessments at the end of training cycles.

Requirements:

  • Education/Experience: High School diploma or GED with 3+ years’ related experience, or equivalent vocational/associate-level training.

  • 4+ years of experience performing aircraft maintenance and structural repair duties.

  • Ability to work variable shifts, including scheduled/unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays.

  • Frequent walking, standing, balancing, climbing ladders (3–12 ft), and reaching overhead.

  • Occasional finger manipulation, crawling, squatting, bending, and lying down.

  • Exposure to noise, metals, plastics, solvents, and elevated platforms.

  • Ability to perform tasks safely with protective gear and pass visual acuity/color perception tests.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with C-17, E4B, B52, or F18 aircraft.

  • Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance.

  • Ability to operate a forklift and riding-type electric powered elevating equipment.
