JOB TITLE: Aerospace Test Engineer - System/Structural 

LOCATION: Tustin, CA - Onsite or Remote 

PAY RATE: Up to $90.00 per hour.

We at The Structures Company have an opportunity for you as a Test Engineer - Systems/Structural!

Responsibilities:

  • Design test plans and equipment to validate complex mechanical avionics or structural components and systems.

  • Conceives elegant/straightforward solutions to task challenges.

  • Author or assists with the authoring of technical documents.

  • Write test plans and procedures to define and support the execution of tests.

  • Interface with internal customers on integrated program teams to establish and verify specific test requirements.

  • Coordinates, prepares, and organizes materials for team meetings and reviews.

  • Work with support teams and vendors to procure, manufacture, and assemble test articles and test stand hardware and equipment.

  • Collaborates with the supply chain team to identify and bid outside contracts for suppliers/equipment providers.

  • Participate in the test engineering review, approval, and release process.

  • Ensures durability, reliability, and safety of assigned scope.

  • Identifies and resolves conflicting design requirements.

  • Coordinate with other disciplines.

Required Skills:

  • Looking for structural test experience on aircrafts.

  • Have you held a “test engineer” title in aerospace for a number of years?

  • We are not looking for software test or data or QA engineers.

  • Have you worked with strain gauges and thermocouples.

  • Do you know how to begin the design of a wing structural test?

  • Do you know the tests needed to perform to qualify a mechanical component for flight?

  • Have you set up test labs etc.?

  • 8 years of relevant experience in systems or structures testing or design.

  • 8+ years of engineering experience

  • Must have Test experience in systems components or airframe/structural testing

  • Must show experience in test requirements/plan/report technical writing

  • Must have experience with data gathering (instrumentation)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering discipline from an ABET, or equivalent, accredited institution.

  • CAD Modelling Experience – 3DX or CATIA v5 Required.

  • Structural or Systems testing background.

  • Fixture Design and Analysis.

  • Vibration fixture modal analysis desired.

  • Familiarity with composites and metallic primary structures.

  • Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with DO-160 environmental test standards for mechanical systems.

  • Experience designing flight vehicles or vehicle systems to requirements or standards such as CFR 14, Part 400, Part 23 and 25, military or NASA, is highly desired.

  • Certified LabVIEW associate developer or higher certification desired.

  • Experience using PXI, cDAQ NI Hardware desired.
