JOB TITLE: Aerospace Structural Mechanic II 
LOCATION: Savannah, GA
PAY RATE: $25.65/hour

Summary: 

  • Safely perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures, including drilling and riveting operations; ensure assemblies meet all requirements

  • Safely perform sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation of parts, equipment, or fabricated items on aircraft

  • Rivet structural assemblies using required tools (e.g., portable riveting guns, pneumatic drills, countersinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers); demonstrate ability to remove fasteners without damaging structure

  • Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations, rivet sizes, hole patterns, and proper use of adhesives, sealants, and solvents

  • Inspect work to ensure defect-free assembly prior to final inspection

  • Maintain and use all logs and records (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs)

  • Align and assemble parts using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners; shape and form complex angles and configurations per blueprints

  • Perform repairs per DMTs, MRRs, and PCOs; complete necessary rework for conformity

  • Maintain an orderly work area, support the 5S Program, and comply with all safety regulations; use PPE as required

  • Properly collect and dispose of waste materials (fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, de-icing fluids, solvent rags)

  • Ensure accurate daily job charging to the aircraft

  • Exchange job-related information and coordinate activities between shifts via turnover reports and communication with leadership

  • Assist in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs

  • Support Lean activities

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • 2 years of related aircraft structural assembly experience

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints

  • Basic computer and shop math skills

  • Ability to read a scale and comprehend basic documents and instructions

  • Strong hands-on aptitude, professional attitude, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated good housekeeping and safety practices

  • Ability to work with composite resins and materials

  • Ability to work any shift

  • Ability to climb ladders/stands/stairs, work in confined or restricted areas, and lift up to 50 lbs

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

  • Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
