Job Description

JOB TITLE: Aerospace Structural Mechanic II
LOCATION: Savannah, GA
PAY RATE: $25.65/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Qualifying Questions:

Summary: 

  • Safely assemble and fit detail parts and structures, including drilling, riveting, sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation of parts/equipment

  • Rivet structural assemblies using required tools (e.g., riveting guns, pneumatic drills, countersinks, shavers, reamers) and remove fasteners without damaging structures

  • Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequences, rivet patterns, and material usage (plastics, adhesives, sealants, solvents)

  • Check work for defects and ensure assemblies meet inspection standards

  • Maintain and update logs and records (MIR sheets, DMTs, CRABS, PCOs)

  • Align and assemble parts using jigs, fixtures, clamps, and tooling; shape and form complex angles per specifications

  • Perform repairs per Discrepant Material Tags (DMT), Material Review Requests (MRR), and Production Change Orders (PCO)

  • Support 5S initiatives, maintain clean/safe work area, and use required PPE

  • Properly collect/dispose of fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, de-icing fluids, and solvents

  • Accurately record daily job charging to aircraft

  • Coordinate shift handovers through reports and direct communication

  • Assist with shop equipment maintenance and support Lean activities

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • 2 years of related structural assembly experience

  • Experience with Solumina and SmarTeam preferred

  • Ability to read/interpret blueprints and basic documents/instructions

  • Basic computer and shop math skills; ability to read scales and perform measurements

  • Strong attention to detail, professional attitude, teamwork, and ability to meet tight schedules

  • Experience working with composite resins and materials

  • Must be able to work any shift, climb ladders/stairs/stands, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs

  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
