Job Description

JOB TITLE: Sheet Metal Structures Mechanic
LOCATION: Wichita, KS
PAY RATE: $34-35/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Summary: 

  • Assemble and install structural and system components using drawings, work instructions, and technical documentation

  • Obtain required information from prints, charts, sketches, and electronic/verbal instructions

  • Use shop mathematics, precision measuring tools, and testing instruments to complete assignments and validate assemblies

  • Utilize tooling to assemble components into sub-assemblies or completed units

  • Verify work meets engineering specifications and identify/report discrepancies per procedure

  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly certified and maintained

  • Perform routine minor machine maintenance (e.g., filter replacement, lubrication, coolant levels)

  • Move products within the manufacturing area and complete required system transactions for workflow progression

  • Complete work within assigned schedules and support production flow

  • Train and assist team members across various skill levels to support continuous manufacturing operations

  • Assist in training other personnel in assembly, installation, and inspection techniques

  • Cross-train in inspection and achieve SIA qualification

  • Set up and operate conventional and/or CNC equipment (less than 3-axis movement), including fastening equipment (e.g., drivematic processes)

  • Perform one or more of the following specialty areas:

    • Assembly/Installation of Structures

    • Sealing

    • Sub-Assembly

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Experience in aircraft structural assembly, installation, or manufacturing

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents

  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools, inspection techniques, and shop math

  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic CNC or fastening equipment

  • Strong understanding of assembly, fastening, and sealing processes

  • Basic computer skills for work instructions and production tracking

  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to quality and safety

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and support cross-functional tasks

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, bending, climbing)

  • Flexibility to work any shift, including overtime and weekends

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
