Job Description

JOB TITLE: Tool & Fixture Specialist 
LOCATION: New Orleans, LA
PAY RATE: $34-41/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Job Details:

  • Job Type: Contract (12 months with potential for extension)

  • Shift: 1st

  • Schedule: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Summary: 

  • Deliver training to internal users on the use, repair, and maintenance of complex below-the-hook equipment and test devices (e.g., scales, weights).

  • Use operational manuals and tooling drawings to ensure safe and proper equipment use.

  • Review internal customer equipment requirements and evaluate vendor products for compliance and capability.

  • Verify the structural integrity of purchased, fabricated, and repaired handling equipment to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

  • Provide guidance on proof-load integrity testing to less experienced Proofload Technicians.

  • Perform routine and complex scheduled Proofload (PL) procedures using weights, scales, and rigging in accordance with established procedures.

  • Increase safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance while reducing downtime and cost.

  • Recommend process and procedural improvements to internal organizations.

  • Perform operational inspections before and after proof-load tests to assess equipment condition.

  • Review documentation for proof-load tests, inspections, and maintenance activities for accuracy and schedule alignment before database entry.

  • Utilize various software systems (e.g., MES, CMES, Maximo/CRPMS, Cribmaster) to review and verify tests, work orders, and data entries.

Requirements:

  • Typically acquired through basic education (e.g., High School diploma/GED) and 4+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., vocational school/Associate’s degree + 2 years related experience).

  • NASA badge required

  • MES

  • Outlook

  • CRPMS

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs

  • Ability to stand, turn, lift, climb, and operate factory support equipment

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
