JOB TITLE: Avionics Operations Engineer (Early Career) - Onsite
LOCATION: Mojave, CA
SALARY: $83,000-146,500/year

Summary: 

  • Support integration, testing, and operations of launch vehicle avionics and electrical systems

  • Write and execute procedures for testing and operations

  • Identify and address vehicle discrepancies

  • Support vehicle system troubleshooting

  • Maintain configuration control over major avionics system elements (wiring diagrams, 3D CAD, work orders, etc.)

  • Coordinate with subsystem leads to develop requirements, test plans, and procedures

  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines to develop technical solutions

  • Analyze system design adequacy and performance to meet program requirements

  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to meet technical and program requirements

  • Support external customer needs, including range integration, launch license applications, safety documentation, and payload integration

  • Prepare presentations and support design reviews throughout vehicle development

  • Support ground and/or flight testing as required

  • Provide regular updates to the Avionics Lead (weekly/monthly)

  • Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience in one or more: electrical engineering, avionics, electronics, software development, circuit design, experimental aircraft, or launch vehicle integration

  • Experience troubleshooting Ethernet networks

  • Experience creating wiring diagrams and circuit schematics

  • Experience with flight vehicle troubleshooting and modifications

  • Electrical design analysis experience (e.g., power budgets, thermal analysis, RF budgets)

  • Experience with system analysis (e.g., telemetry bandwidth, link margin)

  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills

  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and work independently

  • Experience in complex aerospace system development

  • Programming in C/C++, Python, XML

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience integrating launch vehicle or aircraft electrical power systems

  • Experience with data acquisition and instrumentation (thermocouples, accelerometers, strain gauges)

  • Knowledge of environmental testing (vibration, thermal, shock)

  • Experience architecting Avionics and Data Acquisition systems for experimental vehicles

  • Knowledge of IEEE 802.3 networking standards and IRIG-106 telemetry standards

  • Experience on a Mission Control Center console during flight operations

  • Active security clearance

  • Siemens Capital / Mentor Graphics

  • MATLAB

  • LabVIEW

  • Familiarity with configuration management systems (e.g., JIRA)
