Job Description

JOB TITLE: AOI Solder Inspector
LOCATION: Oldsmar, FL
PAY RATE: Up to $26/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Job Details:

  • Job Type: Contract (12 months with potential for extension)

  • Shift: 4/10 – 1st Shift: Mon–Thu, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM EST

  • Industry: Aerospace / Defense / Aviation

Qualifying Questions:

Summary: 

  • Use microscope to verify part placement and orientation; manually align parts before soldering and perform post re-flow inspection and touch-up

  • Identify and repair solder defects, including:

    • Poorly wetted joints

    • Solder voids/insufficient solder

    • Shorts/bridges

    • Misaligned leads

    • Tombstoned or billboarded components

  • Use Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment; distinguish real defects from false calls

  • Read instructions and identify standard SMT components

  • Operate rework equipment: hot air pencils, hot plates, BGA removal (ERSA or other OEM)

  • Review boards under X-ray to identify solder defects on bottom-terminated components

  • Run, solder, and tack down jumper wires on re-design boards (a plus)

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum 5 years soldering experience with surface mount components

  • Exceptional soldering skills and rework experience

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with overtime as needed

  • Able to sit for long periods and maintain focus on repetitive tasks

  • Must read/write English and pass a medical test

  • IPC-610 (expired or active required)

  • IPC J-STD-001 (expired or active required)

  • IPC-7711/7721 (expired or active preferred)

  • Overtime may be required on weekends

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
