Summary:
Leads customer interactions to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements.
Leads and coordinates the analysis and translation of requirements into system architecture, hardware, software designs, and interface specifications.
Leads efforts to test and validate system designs to meet operational and functional requirements.
Oversees a team responsible for monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
Solves problems related to fielded hardware and software throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Researches technology advances for potential application to company business needs and recommends technology investments.
Leads teams to provide technical design guidance, support, and informational assistance for complex production, product support, or in-service issues.
Takes charge of effectively troubleshooting intermittent, chronic, or complex system problems, identifying root causes, and achieving final resolutions.
Takes charge of guiding technical teams at remote sites or facilities.
Contributes to examining and evaluating technology advancements, identifying and recording emerging industry standards in alignment with company objectives.
Participates in industry technical committees, identifies areas for potential industry influence, and contributes to technology road mapping exercises.
Independently develops, decomposes, manages, controls, documents, and tracks complex electronic/electrical system/subsystem requirements using approved processes and tools.
Ensures the consistent and reliable production of the desired product while spearheading analytical efforts to assess the impact of requirements on design and other relevant disciplines.
Mentors and guides less experienced engineers and leads multi-disciplinary teams to develop requirements.
Leads the analysis of applicable operational and functional requirements and develops system designs by allocating requirements to electronic/electrical systems/subsystems.
Converts requirements into hardware, software, and interface specifications.
Enhances the design of electronic/electrical systems/subsystems to optimize quality, performance, reliability, maintainability, supportability, testability, producibility, cost, schedule, compliance, and risk considerations.
Documents design implementation and mentors and guides less experienced engineers while leading multi-disciplinary teams.
Reviews and approves supplier procurement specifications.
Directs the technical source selection process and approves supplier plans and schedules.
Plans and directs design reviews or audits.
Resolves and directly influences managing issues related to the supplier qualification testing program.
Leads the validation process to ensure that requirements are complete.
Oversees the creation of test plans, testing, analysis, documentation, and reporting of results to validate and verify the design.
Provides engineering design disposition on discrepancies by investigating problems and recommending corrective action.
Leads the validation of the system design via product modeling and demonstration and creates a verification cross-reference.
Leads periodic design reviews and verifies that documentation is complete to achieve certification or compliance as required.
Acts as the primary interface for regulatory agencies.
Required Skills:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and nine or more years' experience, Master's with seven or more years of experience, or Ph.D. with four or more years of experience.
Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry program.
ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Desired Skills:
Authoring of system functional tests, working knowledge of wire diagrams and schematics, prior customer introduction experience.
Proficiency with software tools and applications, understanding of aircraft certification.
