Job Description

JOB TITLE: Aircraft Structural Mechanic II 
LOCATION: Savannah, GA
PAY RATE: $25.65/hour

Job Details:

  • Contract Length: 12 months (with potential extension)

Qualifying Questions:

  • Do you meet the educational and experience requirements for this role?

Summary: 

  • Assemble and fit structural parts, perform drilling and riveting, ensuring compliance with requirements.

  • Conduct sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation.

  • Use various tools, including riveting guns, pneumatic drills, countersinks, and reamers.

  • Remove fasteners without damaging structures.

  • Interpret work orders, blueprints, and sketches to determine assembly sequence.

  • Ensure defect-free assembly before final inspection.

  • Maintain logs and records (MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs).

  • Align and assemble parts using jigs, clamps, and fasteners.

  • Shape and form complex angles per specifications.

  • Perform necessary repairs and rework to meet conformity.

  • Maintain a clean work area, follow 5S standards, and adhere to safety regulations.

  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials.

  • Accurately charge time to aircraft projects.

  • Communicate job-related updates between shifts.

  • Assist in shop equipment maintenance.

  • Support lean manufacturing activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • 2 years of structural assembly experience.

  • Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Basic computer and shop math skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Experience with composite resins and materials preferred.

  • Must be able to work any shift.

  • Capable of climbing ladders/stairs, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
